Ledaig Distillery is located in Tobermory village, on the Island of Mull and dates back to 1798. The distillery was founded by John Sinclair, and today it is known as Tobermory Distillery. Malt Whisky production in the distillery is split half and half, between the Tobermory and Ledaig single malts, Each malt reflects the inspiring Island of Mull – from the bright and colourful Tobermory with vibrant fruit, spice and a subtle salty notes, reflective of harbour waters, to the more robust, peated Ledaig with sweet smoke and earthy notes. We wanted to bottle this 10 year old cask at a later stage however after bottling a 24 year old unpeated Ledaig, we thought it would be a good angle to offer a younger cask to let admirers of Island style to compare the old versus the young and the peated vs the unpeated.
Nose: Maritime mineral, vanilla, cotton candy, subtle herbal notes, apricot, oak, pears.
Palate: Oily, wet pebbles sprinkled with vanilla infused sugar, smoke dried sultanas and citrus.
Finish: Salty cappucino, oak, pears and apricots.
Chapter 7™ is an independent bottler's brand that we created in 2014 with passion and curiosity to explore whisky. We started off by bottling single casks from Scotland's lesser known distilleries. Malts that are backbones of famous blends but known to a few. Our journey continues driven by curiosity, uncovering malts from Scotland, Ireland, grain whiskies from Scotland and recently we began vatting malts, exploring the fascinating world of blending.
